Calculate Spindle Speed (RPM) and Table Feed Rate (mm/min) directly for solid carbide and indexable cutters.

Input Parameters

Averages: Steel 150, Stainless 90, Alum 300
Enter active cutting tool diameter.
Average chip load thickness per tooth.

Calculated Outputs

Recommended Spindle Speed:

4,775 RPM

Formula: $N = \frac{V_c \times 1000}{\pi \times D_c}$

Recommended Table Feed:

955 mm/min

Formula: $V_f = N \times f_z \times Z_n$
Disclaimer: Calculated guidelines represent dry-run averages. Parameter adjustment may be required depending on clamping rigidity and spindle horsepower.

Machining FAQs

Internal coolant delivers coolant directly from the spindle through holes inside the drill body to the cutting tip. This is critical for deep-hole drilling (above 3D) to flush chips out of the hole and prevent chip-packing, which can lead to drill breakage.

Use end mills with a variable helix design (dual helix angles) and differential pitch. This breaks the natural resonance frequency of the cut, thereby dampening chatter. Reducing the radial depth of cut ($ae$) also significantly improves stability.

Replace the insert when flank wear reaches an average limit of 0.3mm, when micro-chipping occurs on the cutting edge, or when the surface roughness ($Ra$) of the turned workpiece starts to deteriorate beyond drawing tolerances.
